To provide a new lessee accounting feature to allow the recording and accounting of mid-term lease incentives as a new in-life change. These incentives are where a lessee (hirer of leased asset) receives an incentive from a lessor (owner/financier of leased asset) mid-lease. This is usually a cash incentive or a reduction in lease rentals provided by the lessor to the lessee after the start of the lease. This differs to an incentive received by the lessee at the start of a lease as accounting treatment differs.
